Assurances…

As I sit in my spot, watching the cat look up a tree, I am reminded that we have no assurances of really anything if we look to ourselves or worldly things. But, if we look up, we are provided the assurance of so many things.
You see, I love (as you know) analogies. I see these in everything. I see the cat looking up into the tree, and I immediately think of the symbolism of looking up to God for my strength, the assurance of things hoped for and the certainty of things not seen. Hebrews. 11:1. I see the hopefulness in the cat when he sits quietly, patiently waiting as the rabbit leaves her nest seeking the morsel of tender grass before the dusk casts shadows driving her back to the safety of her secluded spot beneath the towering bush protected from harm once again. I hear the sounds of birds warning others of the cat sneaking from to spot. I hear the cows calling to their young to come as they move from one place to another in their daily routine. I think of God watching over me to protect me and calling to me to warn me quietly from going astray. Or when He calls to me to lead me from place to place.
In all of this, I see the assurance of my God that He is in control. His hands are working steadfastly for my good (Philippians 1:6) because He will never leave me or forsake me. Romans 8:38-39, “ 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.“.
We have so many assurances spoken to us from God’s word, but the greatest assurance we have, I have, is this - eternal life. No one, nothing, ever, can separate me from God’s assurance of eternal life, if and only if, I have accepted Him through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:11-13, "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life"
I am and will struggle, but just as my cat knows that he will be feed even if he doesn’t catch the elusive rabbit or bird, I know I am held, comforted, strengthened, loved, and protected until I am standing before God with the final assurance before me, my Heavenly home.
