Blessings…6-27-25
Blessings…6-27-25

My husband has a giving heart, but he has seen some bad situations and worked in areas where he is more skeptical about people than I. I sometimes don’t know where to stop. He provides discernment in that area. We rarely have extra anything. My husband called and said, “ I got an extra bag of corn for the church people.” Blew me away because that’s my thing, but he usually is in agreement. Then last night, he called and said, “I have more than one extra bag. Do you think you can find people who want?” Of course!

When I do something, I call it my blessings. A dear friend has heard me use this phrase so much that she now refers to things as my blessings and doesn’t question. I believe when we give, God blesses. But I also believe in keeping a lot of that between the giver and the Lord.

I know once something is given, that it is on the recipient to receive the blessings from the gift. I also know it is on us to let it go and let God bless.

I can’t count the number of times I have been blessed by someone providing for me when I was growing up. I have referred to the home situation before. We wouldn’t have eaten many times if it weren’t for a blessing. Sometimes, we didn’t eat because the blessings we received went to the poker game. Then people stopped trying to help, and that was even harder for my siblings and I. Valuable lessons came from those experiences.

Proverbs 11:24-25 says, “One person gives freely, yet gains even more;  another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper;  whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” I do give freely because I believe it is more blessed to give than to receive, Acts 20:35. I don’t think of people as needy, I just like to give and share with others. I like to see the smile when someone realizes they have been thought of in a special way. I love to feel that I am providing a small something, and in return I am so blessed. I know God made me this way, and I don’t want to change that. I love my grandson’s giving nature. I love my husband’s thoughts of sharing the bounty. I don’t want that to change. I do truly believe that we receive when we give are our blessings open and freely.

Hebrews 13:16, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
