Good Good Papa…

When our grandson reads this one day, he will know my heart, his Papa, our love for the Lord, and each other. He will understand we all struggle, we all face our demons, and we are truly forgiven by our Father. There are so many stories to tell that he will be able to read to his children, and I pray he will understand the many reasons why we were the way we were.
As I sit on the front porch of our little Airbnb, the wind is blowing and the rain is approaching. Today is Father's Day. I have had the song that I love, and was also part of our VBS this week stuck in my head, "Good Good Father".
I tease my husband and refer to him as rough around the edges, but he is a good father and a better Papa. Most of us learn as we grow how to be patient. Matthew 7:11, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him.". I am humbled at the thought of how much God loves us and how patient He is.
Your see, my husband is a loving father. He wants his children to grow and prosper. He works and provides. He loves and forgives. Just as our Father in Heaven provides the examples of how a Christian man should act and love, so does my husband for his grandson. He is tough and disciplines, but kind and loving. He is a Good Good Father. My husband is a Good Good Papa.
Psalm 103:13 states, "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."
