They Pass…

As we sit on the porch, I notice the vehicles as they pass. Some are the same familiar cars and trucks, others are different. They pass from many different states, in different colors, shapes, sizes, and different people who occupy them.
You see, these vehicles are similar to people we meet. Some are the familiar faces we’ve known for years. Some are new faces that come into our lives quickly. Some just pass by for a split second and are gone. Every person is an opportunity that God has presented for spreading His love, mercy, kindness, and compassion.
Mark 16:15-16, “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
I wonder about the people in these cars and trucks. Do they know Jesus? Do they know of His love and compassion? Are they hearing His word? As they pass, I am reminded to be like Jesus is the greatest task we could ever be given.
Matthew 25:35-40 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
