Workshops...6-25-25

Imagine this! I'm a long-time educator who doesn't like workshops. I am the epitome of a perfect online learner when it comes to Professional Developments. I go to these PD's for content educators, and they all want us to break into their designated groupings and complete activities for students. Great idea, except for these few things. Some people are introverts and don't function well in new settings with people they do not know. Many educators plan workshops with their peers to explore new activities where collaboration is a must. Some people want to discuss with their peers with whom they teach how they can incorporate these labs and activities into their year. Others, like me want to explore how I can change these to better serve my students. After all, we all want what is best for students.

I have been dreading this week for quite some time. I am going alone, which is out of my comfort zone. I've been using the curriculum for a year and am quite familiar with the layout, the labs, activities, handouts, etc. At this point, what more do I need, right? We shall see.

You see, I promised to always be honest and faithful. There are times in life where we do things that we don't want to, but are necessary. We put on our big girls (or boys) and just do it. We can go kicking and screaming which will impact our blessings that will come from obedience of any kind. Or, and I choose this, we can put on a smile, look for those blessings, those people who will be in our path, and wait for the Lord.

Psalm 33:20-22 states, “Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.”. I will wait on the Lord with a trusting heart. I know from experience, He will provide my blessings from these days and people. He will keep me safe from harm. He will provide opportunities to share His love. I choose to go understanding it is not for myself, but my students that I am going. Who knows, in God's infinite wisdom, I might just find in my group a kindred soul, person in need of Jesus, or lesson God has for me. For I do believe, God works for our good in all things.

P.S. Day 1 is complete. I have found a kindred soul. She is in another group, but leads music in her church and is quite involved. She shared with me that her church has Women Praise Nights. This consists of 1 1/2 hours of music and worship. She will send me when their next night will be. The lady in my group is new to Physical Science, and has only been an educator for a couple of years. God is good. I have been blessed, and there is still another day to come.
